Over the next few weeks I'll be interviewing some video game collectors to let you all get a better insight of some of the problems and rewards of being a video game collector. Our first interview is with a collector from the United States named Ed, more popularly known as “Splatter Trigger”. ST has a love for all video gaming, and isn't... more. -
The Costs of Game Development and Publishing

For as long as I can remember discussing games with other people, a topic that comes up often is the costs of games. Many gamers would love for games to be cheaper. And sure, why not? I'd love to buy a new Ferrari for $10,000 too. Although games have actually become cheaper since previous decades (with inflation considered), the idea of shelling out $50-60 for a new game is still too much. Luckily... more. -

It's the new webcomic series, exclusive to Zippy Gamer! Rapture Rising examines the citizens of Rapture, before, during, and after the fall of their great city. Turns out they might not have been quite as serious as we first thought... In this issue we meet Fitzpatrick, the unfortunate student of Sander Cohen, the insane artist found in Fort Frolic. But it seems in truth Fitzpatrick suffered a ... more. -

When summarizing this week’s Video Game news there is really only one story that you can talk about, and that’s the chaos that’s currently going down between Activision (read: The Evil Empire of skepticism, pessimism, and fear) and Infinity Ward (read: Those guys who brought you Call of Duty and took the piss with their online PC stuff). Yes it seems that there’s trouble in the empire, as ... more. -

JIMMIE TAKES THE WIN; GORDON FINISHES 3RD Sunday saw us at Las Vegas for race number 3 in the Sprint Cup Series. Not too surprising that Jimmie Johnson (Lowe's #48 for Hendrick Motorsports) netted his team a great and reasonable win, but perhaps the big surprise was pulled off by none other than Jeff Gordon. If you've watched NASCAR over the past few years, you'd see Jeff Gordon hasn't be... more. -
New Super Mario Bros. Wii Review

Remember how magical being a kid was? Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny, and the Tooth Fairy all gave us magical feelings of happiness. The world is a magical place for children. But with age, the magic eventually dies. Or does it? After playing New Super Mario Bros. on the Nintendo DS, I really started to wonder if my taste in games just wasn’t the same as it used to be. But then New Super Mario Br... more. -

Well, what a week it’s been eh? The Nintendo Media summit steals the limelight, giving everyone a date for both Super Mario Galaxy 2 (May 23rd in America, June 11th for Europe) and Metroid Other M (June 27th in America and “Q3” in Europe, which is the equivalent of saying your coursework will be done “soon”). But the real interesting news from the show, for me at least, was Metroid Other... more. -
Top Video Games of the Year 2009

ZippyGamer staff picks the best games of 2009. Lewis - Brutal Legend 2009 was a pretty weird year for games, mostly because we are now playing the remnants of what-should-have-been now, thanks to the monolithic bore that is Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. I hated CoD MW2 before it even came out, and yes, I have since played it and given it a try and I still despise it. 2009 was a much lesser yea... more. -
Mass Effect 2 Review

Commander Captain Hobo Sheppard. That is the full title of my Mass Effect character. As you can probably tell, when I got the original Mass Effect on Xbox 360 I wasn’t too fussed about taking the series seriously. I set out with the mindset of being the rambling madman of the galaxy, making random, unjustifiable decisions and just generally being an unquantifiable mess of a man. By the end, howe... more.
