Meet Squeeky, Corky, Schnoz, and Weezer, collectively called the Wacky Blasters. This childhood game had me and my family/friends entertained many nights. The premise is quite simple, you choose a blaster, then take the puffball matching the colour (i.e. Corky would get a yellow ball as he’s yellow). You roll a die and try to be the first to make it up ‘Puffball Peak’. It isn’t easy, however, with obstacles of course and it’s not only the board trying to prevent you from reaching the top, but other players as well.
First off is the board and its ups and downs for players. Right off the bat there’s a shortcut IF you can puff your ball over the side that is which brings up the point that there is a line going around the board where you puff along with a few splits where you can try a shortcut to scale the ‘mountain’ quicker. Along with these shortcuts, there are also the many difficult terrains you’ll need to go through if those shortcuts don’t work out for you. These include such colourful names as: Creaky Corner, Pile Up Point, Trouble Bubble Bridge and others. The ‘puddle’ type sections aren’t too hard to get through, but ‘Creaky Corner’ can be rather frustrating as it’s sunk in requiring a good puff to make it up the hill. From here if you miss the shortcut comes a
crater section where a ball can get snugly caught in and then the opposite after of bubbly lava (the 2 hardest sections for me). Another hazard, and possibly the worse one in terms of affect would be blowing your ball over the edge causing you to need to make up lost ground (Sometimes as much as an entire board). Now, when you roll the die you’ll get either 1-5 puffs to move you’re a ball. Instead of a ‘6’ you get a ‘blaster’ symbol which allows you the chance to blow your opponent off or backwards with 1 puff only, better make it count.
So, if you’re looking for a fun way to kill 30-60 minutes, or more in some cases, and have access to this game I suggest trying it out. It’ll BLOW YOU AWAY!

I’m surprised I haven’t heard of this game before. It definitely has that retro look to it. It’s refreshing to see a plastic board rather than the usual cardboard ones.

Well it’s certainly different to my usual board game fare, maybe I’ll check it out.

Yeah….I had a few odd games as a kid. This being by far my favourite. Little tip possibly, I always found Corky to be the best blower outta the 4
Also I agree Joseppi, the 3d, plastic board is a refreshing change to the otherwise basic boards.
Glad you guys liked the review

It reminded me of Mouse Trap when I saw the image. How does puffing work? Is this an actual physical action or some card or something in the game?

It’s a physical action. You get a ball and a squeezable character ‘Wacky Blaster’ and when you squeeze, air comes out it’s trunk/nose.
I’ve asked Joe to include a pic of the game piece he said he had. There’s no cards at all, just a Die, 4 blasters, the board and a whole wack of puff balls (as replacements for any that get lost)

I have the other image added for you. I shrunk them down a bit so they fit better. But you can view their full size by clicking on them.

Thank you so much for writing this. I played this game a LOT as a kid at my babysitter’s house, but could not remember the name for the life of me. I had a hell of a time trying to figure it out; I think I found this by searching “board game hill ball blow” LOL.
