A lot of us love to gain achievements whilst playing our favourite games. Some of us even try to get every single achievement there is to get. But you may be wondering what the hardest achievements out there are. And trust me, there are plenty of them. Lets take a look the Top 10 Hardest XBox 360 Achievements so far.

10. Call Of Duty 4: Modern Warfare – Mile High Club – 20G

Starting off the list, is Modern Warfare’s famous Mile High Club. Many gamers try for this achievement, as it’s seen as one the ultimate bragging rights for COD fans. All you have to do for this achievement is to “Sky dive to safety on Veteran difficulty”. Doesn’t sound to tough, right? Well we’re forgetting that you’re taking on an entire plane full of terrorists on the hardest difficulty level. Culminating in a hostage rescue as your intended target hides behind his hostage. Oh yeah.. I forgot to add that you have to do the whole thing in less than 60 seconds and all you have flash bangs. While it’s not the hardest achievement on the list, its definitely one that’s going to drive your patience.

9. The Orange Box – Neighborhood Watch – 35G

The Orange Box holds some very tricky achievements. I’m talking without enabling the cheats here; real achievement hunters and gamers earn there achievements without cheats. There was a few I could have chosen for this game, such as “The One Free Bullet”. Where you play though Episode one, having only fired one bullet. Or there’s “Get Some Grub” The annoying achievement that has you trying to squish every antlion grub in Episode 2. Even “Little Rocket Man” where you carry a garden gnome though out all of Episode 2 could have made this list. But the achievement that I found the hardest in The Orange Box was “Neighborhood Watch“.

This Achievement has you trying to stop 13 Striders from destroying any buildings near the end of the story in Episode 2. You have to keep up with each Strider and defend yourself from any Hunters while getting out of your car to shoot the bombs. This Achievement is incredibly frustrating that I never managed to get it after hours of trying.

8. Gears Of War II – Seriously 2.0 – 50G

It’s not that this is a really hard achievement, its just very, very time consuming. People who got the “Seriously” achievement in the original Gear Of War were most likely annoyed upon seeing this “Seriously 2.0”. You see “Seriously” had you kill a total of 10,000 people in a versus ranked match for this achievement. Well, “Seriously 2.0” takes it a step further, this time you have to kill 100,000.

The good thing is that this can be done in any mode, even single player. So it’s not just stuck to ranked versus matches; it adds up total kills and campaign kills too.

7. Dead Rising – Seven Day Survivor – 20G

This achievement is quite famous. Mainly due to the fact you have to play for a solid 22 hours straight. As the name suggests, all you have to do is survive the zombie infested mall for 7 in-game days. Which is roughly around 22 hours, real-time. What really makes this achievement so hard is that you can’t save. Meaning if you die, you have to do it all again. You can’t really take many breaks from the game, due to having to be constantly on guard of any zombies that may break your barricade. The psychopaths bosses can respawn upon a map refresh and without warning. If that’s not bad enough, Frank’s life is constantly depleting. And it can only be restored with food, which is scatted throughout the mall, but in limited supply.

6. Left 4 Dead 2 – The Real Deal – 35G

Beating Left 4 Dead on Expert isn’t easy. You need to be a master of the game, knowing which weapon is right for which situation, know the maps, and overall be a master of teamwork. So what happens when you throw in Realism Mode? Yup, this achievement, expects you to beat a campaign on Expert difficulty, in Realism Mode.

Realism mode removes the auras usually shown around players through walls. Also, the auras around items are only visible within a few feet, making the game require more communication and teamwork. Realism mode also makes bodyshots less effective to the Common Infected, meaning headshots are the way to go.

The only weapons that can kill regardless of where they hit is the M60 and the Magnum. Rescue closets are removed, making the Defibrillator the only way to revive dead Survivors. Witches kill instantly. Speech bubbles over the Survivors are disabled when speaking via the microphone, although the speech bubble still appear above the character’s icon. Doesn’t sound to tough on paper, but give it a try and see how tough this can be.

5. BlazBlue – Leonidas – 40G

Another achievement that sounds easy, all you have to do is beat Score Attack Mode. Only this is the hardest mode in BlazBlue and it’s the hardest achievement in the game. The AI is much more harder than Hell difficulty. You can’t change the difficulty ether. Each battle is fixed at 2 rounds and 99 seconds each. The last four characters are all in their unlimited forms with Ragna as the final boss with a LOT of life. This achievement is really unfair towards the player, and the AI will pull out all the cheap tricks when it needs to, so you don’t win. You need to be a pretty good at BlazBlue and most other 2D fighting games to even attempt this achievement.

4. Star Ocean: The Last Hope – Ultimate Battler – 10G

This Achievement requires you to collect all 100 battle trophies in the game. All are acquired though battles and some are really easy, such as “cure an ally who has curse status”. But then you have the incredibly hard ones such as “Deal exactly 55,555 points of damage “ meaning if you get 55,556 with your attack you don’t get the battle trophy. There are 100 battle trophies in total and they’ll require a massive amount of playtime and patience to get them all. A quick Google search will find you the battle trophy list if your interested to see how hard this Achievement is. And all you get for it is a lousy 10 gamer points!

3. Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter – World Champion – 40G

World Champion requires you to climb to the top of the universal leaderboard, to gain the 40G. One Problem, this achievement is near impossible to get. According to my research there’s around 19 people who have achieved this. Only 19 people out of the millions who have played it. GRAW did quite well in sales and even won the BAVGA Award for Best Game. Looks like someone forgot to award it with most hardest multi-player achievement.

To get this achievement legibly, you have to become the highest level on solo and team leaderboards, which then boosts your rank on the universal leaderboard. However a few people have done this by using a boost effort, which, whilst quicker than the legit way, still takes a good few weeks to complete. And it takes a lot of set up and communication with 4 other people who have the game and are willing to boost as much as you are to achieve.

2. Mega Man 10 – Mr. Perfect – 30G

Mega Man games are known for the tough gameplay, however this achievement is just crazy and next to impossible. “Beat The Game Without Taking Any Damage”, that’s right, beat the whole game without getting hit once. The only way you’re going to do this, is by putting the game on “easy” and lots and lots of practice.

1. Final Fantasy XI – Level Up Any Job To Its Maximum Level. – 30G

Obtaining just one of these achievements will take you around four to six months of gaming, provided you can put in around nine hours a day and that you don’t have to spend a lot of time getting a party organized. That’s half a year, for one achievement. On top of that, you have to pay a monthly subscription to keep on playing. Other achievements on this list may take hundreds of hours to complete, but the time commitment involved in this achievement and the fact you have to pay each month, puts it on a whole new level . It is inconceivable that anyone would ever get a full thousand points in this game as the servers will most likely be shut down or the end of the world would have happened.

These are some of the most time consuming and toughest achievements out there that I’ve come across. Disagree or agree with this list? Has you achieved any of these achievements? If so, let us know in the comment box below!

They own some of the biggest names in the video game industry, but Nintendo is in no hurry to see any of their big name stars on the big screen.

The film industry is dying to see how many coins a [good] Super Mario movie could knock out of the box office. In a recent interview with LA Times, Nintendo Of America’s President Reggie Fils-Aime was asked if producers still ask for movie rights for Mario and Zelda. Reggie replied with, “All the time”.

Reggie went on to say that the answer they always give is, “Thanks for your interest”. However, Reggie did say that Nintendo has spoken to certain people about certain franchise movies in more detail. Nintendo is being notoriously protective of their brands, trying to forget past mistakes such as the Super Mario Bros. Movie. Nintendo seems to only want a movie adaptation if it will be as enjoyable as their games.

Scene from 1993's Super Mario Bros. Movie

Other companies, however, are being far less protective of their brands. Atari gave rights to movie producers to make the retro game Missile Command into a movie. Following Missile Command are rumours of a Space Invaders and Spy Hunter movie being made.

A new poll in the Guinness World Records: Gamers Edition ranks the planet’s 50 favourite video game franchises, and you may be shocked to discover that the Super Mario Bros doesn’t put in appearance until sixth place. In fact, not only is Mario a lot lower in the ranks than expected, he’s been beaten by Link who sits in third place. Otherwise, mature-rated games dominate the top ten, with the Halo and Call of Duty series taking the top spots.

The poll is voted for by members of the gaming public, and it makes me worry about the sanity of some them. I mean, Runescape being higher than Goldeneye 007? Really!? Here are the top 50 video game properties as apparently loved by you: the gaming public. If you don’t agree with the way things stack up, what would your top ten be?

Treyarch has unveiled the debut trailer for their next addition to the hugely popular Call of Duty series, Call of Duty: Black Ops.

It appears that Black Ops will allow players to visit many different time periods and settings; one of which is more than likely to be Vietnam. Vietnam has been rumoured to be in the next Call of Duty game for quite some time now. Judging by the trailer, it seems that at least part of the game will take place there. Gameplay-wise, it is extremely hard to make out any real additions or changes. The trailer hints at an intriguing twist on the Call of Duty styled story too. Some of the sequences suggest that a ex-soldier has been drugged and is being questioned about past events. I suspect players will play though his memory to advance the story. Call of Duty: Black Ops is currently slated in for a November 9th 2010 release date.

After Tuesday’s announcement of Marvel Vs. Capcom 3, we now have a teaser trailer of the most anticipated fighting game of the decade.

How many of you read the terms and conditions of a sale when buying goods online? Well apparently, chances are most of us don’t bother with them. Now it seems that one company has taken advantage of this for their own amusement. UK based video game retailer, Gamestation has claimed over 7,500 souls. Yes, you read that right, souls.

GameStation added the “immortal soul clause” to online purchases earlier this month stating customers granted them the right to claim their soul. While all shoppers during the test were given a simple tick box option to opt out, very few did this, which would have also rewarded them with a £5 voucher. The store claims this shows 88 percent of people do not read the terms and conditions of a website before they make a purchase. Bosses also say they will not be enforcing their rights and will now email customers nullifying any claim on their soul.

Welcome to the Rumour Mill, where I dig up the latest Video game related rumours and the likely hood of them being true or false.

Marvel VS Capcom 3

“Marvel vs. Capcom 3″ will be announced in May. According a confident “leak” by a poster named Henaki at Team Spooky. Henaki also claimed that a PC version of “Super Street Fighter 4″ would be unveiled sometime soon. He may be believable on both fronts, as he leaked the entire “SSF4″ fighter roster before it was public.

Team Spooky is a video game based blog that often runs live stream events. A few days ago, Team Spooky were posting news and stories from Capcom’s yearly event known as “Captivate”, which is used to distribute information to the press and takes place in Hawaii. Currently the editor or Marvel.com is in Hawaii on business. This only makes the earlier leak about Marvel VS Capcom more believable. Team Spooky also claim that Capcom sent out a few letters to specific venues after the leak, telling them not to post anything.

To top this rumour off, Capcom have apparently bought a new sub domain at VSCapcom.com. Also just recently, the official Marvel VS Capcom Twitter page went active with updates after going months without any updates at all. Team Spooky also claim that, there will be one new character from the Resident Evil franchise in this game.

Official Story:

A new Marvel VS Capcom game would be great and would be what many fans would love to see. However its really hard to confirm if all of this is true or not. Henaki leaked the Super Street Fighter 4 character roster before it was made public and his information was correct. So he is a reliable source of information. The Captivate event and what happened there, only adds strength to the rumour. Then with the added Marvel VS Capcom twitter page getting a bunch of updates and Capcom buying a new sub domain all points to its going to happen. The only thing I’m not entirely sure on is the news about a new character from Resident Evil. I’m going to bet my money on that this is true and we can look forward to a new Marvel VS Capcom game very soon. Keep your finger’s crossed fighting fans. In fact watch out for the next few days, as this is when Capcom will be announcing new games and information to the press.

UPDATE: Capcom have comfirmed Marvel VS Capcom 3. It is reported that it will be a classic 2D fighter with improved visuals. A couple of old favorite fighters are confirmed for the 3rd installment. They are Wolverine, Hulk, Magneto, Spider-Man and Storm. Capcom said they will be blowing fans out of the water with the sheer number of characters that will be in ‘Marvel Vs Capcom 3′. Expect more news to follow.

Portal 2 for PS3?

So I’m in my local supermarket browsing the magazine section, when I spot a certain UK PS3 magazine, called “PSM3”. On the front of this magazine, I saw the words “Portal 2”. Now where as the first Portal, which was included in the Orange Box was ported from the PC to the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360, I do recall reading that Portal 2 was only stated to be on the PC, Xbox 360 and Mac(which valve are now fully supporting).

Since Valve’s last games, Left 4 Dead and Left 4 Dead 2 didn’t make their way onto the Playstation 3. It looked like Portal 2 wasn’t it to make it onto the PS3 either. Gabe Newell, CEO of Valve has stated many times before in the past about the problems with the platform’s Cell processor being difficult to work with and outsourced PS3 porting duties for the Orange Box to publisher Electronic Arts.

Well now it seems EA are also going to be publishing Portal 2 onto the Playstation 3; at least according to “PSM3” anyway. Portal 2 is listed on the front cover of the magazine under “36 must-play PS3 games” along with Fallout: New Vegas, Brink, Crysis 2, and the Medal of Honor reboot.

Official Story:

I asked Valve and sadly the Valve spokespeople had nothing to say. I didn’t hear back. I doubt Portal 2 will be on the Playstation 3, especially since Gabe Newell dislikes the console so much. But at the same time, six months ago, if you would have told me that Valve will have a fully working Steam and games running on a Mac, I wouldn’t have believed it. So perhaps there is just a slight chance that PS3 owners wont be missing out. As to why “PSM3” had it on their cover…well who knows. There could be many reasons why, false information or perhaps a simple typo. PS3 owner’s, don’t hold your breath for Portal 2.

BioShock: The MMO

According to a “mysterious source”, game site Destructoid is reporting that 2K Games is working on a massively-multiplayer online title based on the world of BioShock. This rumour has popped up briefly before. When 2K made interest in the past of the MMO genre. Bioshock has been named as a potential franchise candidate for exploitation before.

Official Story:

Sadly, this is all the information I could dig up on this rumour. Since it’s from a “mysterious source”, we don’t know how reliable it is. So for now, take it this as just a rumour. Sadly, I’m going to guess that the only people who know if this is true or not are 2K Games themselves.

Sonic 4 and Dreamcast Games for Xbox Live Arcade

Someone has been a bit naughty and leaked a few unreleased Xbox Live Arcade games out onto the internet. Including Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode I. The good news however is that we get to take a little peak at the new upcoming games for Xbox Live. The following games have been confirmed by the leak:

Sonic The Hedgehog 4: Episode 1

Sonic Adventure

Crazy Taxi

Metal Slug XX

Neo Geo Battle Coliseum

Raystorm HD

The King Of Fighters 2002 Unlimited

Quake Arena Arcade

Hydro Thunder Hurricane

As you can see, some of these are Dreamcast ports, which is great news. Also it’s rumoured that there’s a few other games yet to be leaked.

Official Story:

True, we just don’t know when Microsoft are planning to release the games to the public.

A 24 year old woman has been reported to have fallen off her Wii Balance Board and caused her to become a sex addict afterwards.

The article from Yahoo! reported that Amanda, a catering worker from Manchester, England, requires at least ten sex sessions a day after the fall from her Wii Fit Balance Board.

Amanda described the injury herself that “It began as a twinge down below before surging through my body. Sometimes it built up into a trembling orgasm.” This is apparently caused by even the slightest vibrations such as mobile phones to food processors.

A doctor diagnosed her with persistent sexual arousal syndrome due to a damaged nerve, which can really happen to a person. However, no reports of any lawsuit yet since accidents happen and you can’t really blame Nintendo for this.

Now guys, get those same ideas I had, out of your head.

The world of online gaming can be a scary place at times. When gaming online, you can find some of the best multiplayer games you’ll ever have. But at the same time, you also find some of the oddest people who society tries to forget about. Take a little look at the 12 types of online gamers you will find whilst playing online.

12. The Child Gamer

You know how it goes. You get home from a long day at work and you just want to grab a beer, sit down and play some games. You start up a good old game of Halo and then you hear him….or it. The child, whose voice will cut though you like a chainsaw. Now I’ve played some games with kids before and around 40% of them know how to play. They will work in a team, provide team mates with cover and overall be a good player and not annoy anyone. These kids I have no problem with. It’s the kids who scream into the mic and are just little bastards in general that are the problem. They love to call every other player “gay” or “fag” and have the mouth of a trucker. They will always be at hand however, to come and teabag your dead character; regardless if they even killed you or not. Perhaps the worst thing about these kinds of children is, sadly they are unavoidable. And the best thing we can do against them is use our “mute” buttons.

11. Mr Rage

You don’t even need to be playing online to spot these kind of players. You’ll see them stuck in traffic swearing and screaming, whilst rocking their car from side to side. Meet one of these players online and be prepared for some ear damage, they will run round screaming and making noises so annoying that you may want to stab your own ear drums. Failing that, a good mute is in order. Now I’m all up for letting off a bit of steam while playing online. But these guys take it too far!. If you kill him from behind or with a sniper, he will let you know about it. You take too long to set up a game, you’ll know about it. Basically anything you do that doesn’t involve you dying, he will complain about it; mainly with swear words and with some screaming. Lucky for us, these kind of players normally quit the game around about 20 minutes in; most likely due to being Idle from having a heart attack.

10. The Better Gamer

You decide to play your favourite game online. You love this game and you are really good at it. But there’s a problem…there’s this one person. This one person is better than you, you look at his gamer card, he owns all the games you do and has a higher gamer score on all of these games too. A tad annoying, but you have to admire these players. And best of all, you always know that you are going to have a really good match against such a player. You both know the maps well, you both know every tactic and where each health pack and weapon is. But no matter how hard you try, you can’t seem to beat them. And when you finally get to beat them that one time, you are so happy that it doesn’t even matter if they kick your ass another 50 times.

9. The Mic Spammer

I always seem to come across these players. They either just stand still in the game, or run around playing music into the mic. They want you to hear how awesome their taste in music is. At least with PC gaming, mic spamming can be turned into something amusing if you have the right sense of humour for it.

8. The Girl Gamer

You hear a girl talk down the mic and you know what’s about to go down; stereotyping and a lot of open season comments. Problems arise when girl gamers just wanna do what us guys do, and that’s own some noobs. Some players try to impress the girl. Some just tell her to go back to her DS with Animal Crossing. While others will assume she must suck. They say that about 25% of hardcore gamers are girls and I feel sorry for them when they get abused for just wanting to kick some ass. Most of us started our early gaming years rescuing the damned princess. So with that in mind combined with our masculine instinct, we all think that the girl on our team is talking to us because she wants saving from the other team. This isn’t how it goes because girl gamers can hold their own any day against any player. Treat girl gamers like you would do with any other gaming buddy. She’s not there to impress you guys or to date any of you. She wants your virtual head rolling across the floor.

7. Rambo

You start up your game and go over your game plan with your team. However one member of the team stays quiet, doesn’t say a word. As soon as the game starts, he goes off on his own, doing his own thing. He’s killing whoever he wants. And you best not get in his way or slow him down. This is the Rambo or The Lone Wolf. They selfishly grab all the best pick-ups and have absolutely no hesitation in abandoning team-mates. Pray friendly fire is turned off, otherwise he won’t stop shooting if you mange to get in his way by mistake.

6. The Shy Guy

The Shy Guy(not to be confused with the Mario baddies) is that one gamer who never talks. Be it due to social awkwardness or other reasons, he is completely mute. Sometimes being in a game with a silent gamer can be a bit of a pain. Trying to discuss game plans or just to have a good chat with this gamer isn’t going to happen. Not to say, that if you suggest a tactic, he won’t help you out with it, but it would be nice to get a bit of clarification now and again.

5. The Blamer

These types of gamers suffer from the inability to admit personal culpability. Instead, they choose to fabricate slander to other team members to cover up their own faults. These often come with a side order of swearing, Blamer’s can easily create arguments in the team and will often pick on the weakest member of the team, who is normally the person who defends himself to much or the worst player on the team. Best bet is to just ignore these players.

4. The Griefer

The griefer is someone who will use glitches and abuse game rules to make players on both teams rage. Playful jesters or annoying twats? A mix of both I’d say. They aren’t here to win the game. Their objective is make people mad; and there’s many ways for them to do it. Their tactics usually consist of working with a member of the enemy team to set up traps or using glitches to get players stuck outside of the map. After playing a game with a griefer in the team, prepare to be as irate as a pissed off wasp. Strangely enough, a good way to cheer yourself up is to watch some YouTube videos of other people getting griefed.

3. The Glitcher

Not to be confused with the griefer. The Glitcher or “hacker” as people call them, are those annoying buggers who find glitches in multi-player maps, such as being able to get outside of the map and being able to kill you with you knowing what just happened. There’s many types of glitchers out there; and some will just abuse the game to get most kills so they dominate the leader boards. Then there are those who glitch game lobbies so when the game starts, it’s all messed up.

It’s more than likely that some glitchers will own a modded console. A glitcher can be spotted quite easily. At the start of the game, watch out for any one jumping up and down against a wall or slope. This indicates they are trying to exploit an area of the map, possibly outside of the map for their own advantage.

2. Slow Readers

Slow readers have recently made unpopular by co-op games such as Resident Evil 5 while taking a break from shooting crazy villages and blowing stuff up. The game allows the players to read a few notes and diary’s left by people. Now it’s good to read them, as they help explain the story and makes the player feel more involved in the game. However, when you have a player who takes 15 minutes to read two paragraphs of text, you are going to start get irritated. Not to say people who are slow readers are bad at games or anything, it’s just for the other player who have read it and are waiting for the slow reader to catch up, it makes the player lose the experience of being in a co-op game at times.

1. The Drill Sergeant

My favourite stereotype of online gamers has to be the “Drill Sergeant” players. They’re loud and intensely serious on winning the game. He will take command over the team, often yelling “LET’S HIT THEM HARD TEAM!” and “GO,GO,GO STORM THE HOUSE!” He most likely spend his time watching World War II films and most likely owns a few air soft guns. In the virtual world, he likes to pretend to be well acquainted with the fundamentals of tactical military maneuvers. But to be fair, this kind of gamer will always play within the rules and put up a darn good fight till the end. Just be sure to not annoy him or he might make you, drop and give him twenty.
