Ive played a lot games some good and some… well how could you even put an abomination like that on the shelves, but one thing I have always seem to pick up on right away is the music so i'm curious whats that one song or game that has the best soundtrack that sticks out in your mind, you know that one that brings back that euphoric feeling of kicking that bosses ass or the one that made you think this doesn't fit the game at all. So whats your favorite and/or worst?

My personal favorite is Crono Triggers and its not really a specific game but I usally dislike the repetative choose your character music.

A great soundtrack can a lot of the times make or break a game for me. The older Mario games had amazing soundtracks that would get stuck in your head. The new ones, (New Super Mario Bros. DS) have boring and repetitive songs though.

I thought Yoshi's Island on the SNES had some really good music. It's one of my favorite games. But then Yoshi's Island DS came out. The game it self is just as fun as the original, but the music is boring which makes the game less fun for me.

Zelda has always had great music, and still does for the most part. If Koji Kondo is the composer, it's most likely going to be great.

Metroid has always been known for it's music. It is one game where the music fits perfectly with the environment. It really sets the mood.

Sonic is another series with great music. The originals had amazing soundtracks which are some of my favorites of all time. Sonic 3's music is said to have been composed by Michael Jackson but they didn't put him in the credits because of the child molestation allegations against him. Nonetheless, he did have some kind of influence on the game and he was known to be a big fan of Sonic.

The newer Sonic games have good music too, but the lyrics are usually pretty lame. Sonic R for the Sega Saturn had some of the dumbest lyrics I've ever heard in a game. lol

Great Topic!

I love Video game soundtracks, I bought the Okami 5 disc OST whilst in Japan, beautifull music, really helps me relax.

apart from Okami;

Jet Set Radio/Jet Grind Radio – Dreamcast:

Not really a fan when it comes to band music in video games, but since noone knew who these bands were, and the fact all the songs were just so funky and fitted with the game's unique style so well, makes it awesome. SUPPPAAA BRUTHAAAA!

My Pick for JSR: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v…..Fu7LFlaCCA - It's so funky! fit's in with skating around and spraying graffti all over the place.

The Legend Of Zelda: Majora's Mask – Nintendo 64:

I could pick any zelda game and say "great ost!" but MM's stands out for me on so many level's, the music being a big part. It was just so dark, and epic…ah in fact im gonna go listen to some of it. plus Termia feild music made me want to bounce around. Plus Clock Town's Final hour's is creepy and depressing.IMO No game has ever able to create that atmosphere of a desperate race against time again.

My Pick for LOZ:MM: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v…..rtBiHKI-Bg  11th Hour / Final Hour had to pick this.

Final Fantasy IX – Playstation 1:

Same as above, Any Final Fantasy game I could have picked, but not any FF game has "Over The Hill"

My Pick For FFIXhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v…..L0HVjyK4j8

Skies Of Arcadia/Skies Of Arcadia Legends – Dreamcast/Gamecube:

The music in this game makes me ears want to sex up the speakers. nuff said.

My Pick for SOA: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v…..VFf5-mXRHo

Breath Of Fire III – PS1/PSP:

Gosh this game was epic and tough too. certain tracks in the game you can tell was inspired from classic RPG's such as Crono Trigger, which is never a bad thing.

My pick for BoF3: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v…..vO4oOmVazQ

Alundra – Playstation 1:

I bet most haven't heard of this game, A zelda clone for the playstation 1, following the old schoold drop down view of the older Zelda games, Alundra was an underated gem, The story and gameplay AND music imo beat any zelda game hands down, Oddly enough Alundra's soundtrack was,for the most part,  orchestered, which for a early released Playstation game with a low budget, is quite a feet.

My pick for Alundrahttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v…..xloalBVCLE  – just epic!

I best stop here before i end up spending another 45 mins going though my brain to think of soundtracks :P

The last hour in Majora's mask is quite possibly my favourite moment in any game. It's so bleak, and I always get a little scared and feel sorry for all the characters (like the soldiers) standing around in the city. The music complements it perfectly.

One of my favourite tracks is 'You were there' at the end of Ico. Really goes well with the end of the game. What a game.

American Mcgee's Alice~

I would say this this soundtrack is unknown to a lot of people, it most deffinatly should have gotten a spot on the top 10 soundtracks. Think Oddworld music was good? Look up this soundtrack and then you will know what desperation and longing for something truely good is. I do appreciate Oddworld getting a spot though, it's an amazing game and the music was also amazing. Gimme weird, odd, and mysterious and I'm a very happy individual. Speaking of gameing music at it's best (since it was only top 10), KH1 was just as good as 2, if not better. Every Final Fantasy game has a mention by me. Silent Hill 2 also had one of the best gameing soundtracks ever! Azerik: Rise of Promethia has an honerable mention, the game is hard as hell. Good Luck with it, if however you have made it to every level; the music all the way to the end is amazing.

Have a good day now yall~
