Once BorderLands gets cheaper it’s near the top of my list.

Metroid Prime Trilogy. Metroid Prime 3 to be exact. Finally got use to the controls. lol I'll try out the first two games when I'm done. I already played them on Gamecube, so I started with the third one.

Counter Strike Source, also tried out 1.6 again the other day, amazing how dead they both are compared to a few years ago.

A bit of Freespace 2 in-between essay writing. I played through the first one recently. Playing the second takes some getting used too – they upped the ante when it comes to difficulty by making the big ships a big danger to individual fighters (in the original they were basically sitting ducks).

Currently playing Pokemon: Fire Red

doing a challenge, I like do make games harder for myself, like with the zelda games, i always do a 3 heart challenge. well with pokemon Fire red, I'm only using 1 pokemon, and that pokemon is my starter; Charmander, Not allowed any other pokemon apart from HM slaves, for the use of fly, cut, strenght and surf, so i can complete the game of course. I took brock down easy, and Misty i beat today, which was really goddamn hard. had to level to around 31 to beat her.

Wow, that sounds hard, Liam. That reminds me of people who beat Final Fantasy 1 using nothing but white mages (healers).

I've been playing mostly Demon Souls and Uncharted 2 lately. It took me about a month to get into Demon Souls from the time I bought it, and when I got hooked I got really hooked. I've got around 175 hours invested into it now.

Uncharted 2 I've just been going through my long overdue second playthrough. It's a thoroughly enjoyable single player experience; the multiplayer is good too, but I've barely given it a chance, I'm picky with multiplayer– I barely take advantage of it in most games (Demon Souls being one of the few).

Is the multiplayer like head-to-head or is it cooperative?

Sorry I didn't see that you asked this until now.

That's a great question– and the answer is BOTH!

The way it works is– the single player campaign is the multiplayer– there are no separate modes. As long as your system is hooked up to the internet you are always one step away from having your single player game turned into a multiplayer orgy.

Lets say you're on level 1-2 (and you are in "body form"– which you can get into at any time if you either beat a boss or use a stone of ephemeral eye), and you see some glowing blue graffiti- that's a "soul sign" — a message left by another player who is seeking to help you beat your level 1-2. If you summon him, he will come into your world (as a "blue phantom") and help you on a co-op basis, only leaving after either the boss has been killed or if he gets killed (or if he decides to leave).

Let's say you already beat 1-2, or you didn't, either way, you don't want to beat the level just yet and would rather help someone else beat it (and you are in "soul form"– which you can get into at any time by simply dying and coming back as a soul). You go to 1-2, then select your "blue eye stone" (press start, go to inventory, and select it and go to "use"), you will then drop that same blue graffiti soul sign wherever you are standing. If someone sees that and selects you, you will be warped into their world to help them.

Now the "head to head" part– at any time, a player who is in soul form can drop a "black eye" stone, which allows them to invade your world.

Let's say you and two friendly blue phantoms are marching along trying to beat level 1-2– when you are invaded. You will see a message telling you that you have been invaded. The invader will come in to your world as a "black phantom" and try to team up with your enemies to kill you and your buddies.

It's a really unique and awesome online set up. There's just something about someone being able to randomly invade the sanctity and privacy of your otherwise normal gaming experience that just takes everything up a notch.

Uncharted 2, was that the one with the Marco Polo thing? If so, it has amazing voice acting.

And if it's not Uncharted 2, I don't remember what the name was.

Yep, that's Uncharted 2.

Wow Vulture, I had no idea it was like that. That sounds like an awesome multiplayer experience. Makes me wish I had a PS3 to try it out!

It truly is. I don't play many multiplayer games, mostly because I work a lot and I play videogames to "wind down". With PvP I need to "wind up" to be competitive. If I've got all week to play games, I don't mind PvP, since I can sacrifice a few hours of getting my ass handed to me in exchange for that point at which I get in "fighting shape"– by which I mean I get a handle for things and start holding my own. Usually I don't have that kind of time. Thus I much prefer co-op.

But with pure co-op things can sometimes get a bit dull and repetitive. Demon Souls really has the perfect balance of both co-op and PVP. The black phantoms that invade your game are typically at a disadvantage since they can only invade 1 at a time and you can have up to 2 blue phantoms on your side– thus 3 vs 1.

I checked yesterday and I've got a total of 750 (or thereabouts) multiplayer sessions in this game. It all probably adds up to a few hundred hours of playtime. Like I said, in most of my games, I hardly touch the multiplayer– and this game and Rainbow Six Vegas are the major exceptions.

R6V has terrorist hunt, a co-op mode I love. I also played a lot of Warhawk and Motorstorm online, but these are pure PvP and like I said, I can only play them when I have a lot of free time to get back in PvP shape.

I'd guestimate that I poured the most multiplayer hours of all my games into R6V2, but I will surely surpass that hour total with Demon's Souls (if I haven't already, which I probably have). I've certainly put in longer gaming binges with DS than R6V. My last few weekends have pretty much been devoted to this game.

Unlike R6V2 Demon's is an RPG so you could grind away at the single player experience itself for hundreds of hours, throw the multiplayer on top of that and it pretty much never gets old.

I'm babbling, I'll stop.

so far the first 2 gym leaders have been hard, Misty took alot of time and healing and waiting to be able to beat her water pokemon. Brock wasn't so bad. the only thing im really worried about is the elite four. Water pokemon aren't too bad of a deal once you have Dig and are high enough lvl.

some of the challenges out there are quite insane, that final fantasy 1 for example, compared to me doing a zelda game on just 3 hearts is a walk in the park compared to that.

Man, you are hardcore! Hell, I usually try to find ways of making games easier ! Cheating is now a thing of the past, but in the days of old, I would use every trick in the book, including outside the book. From the Game Genie to the CodeBreaker, I used 'em all. Best was programmer cheats. Never had to worry about ruining save data because the crack-system you're using can cause such things.

Though, I'm getting better. In some ways, the PSP has been almost like a training device. There are games on the PSP that, at one time, I may not have even tried unless I knew for a fact that 1.) I found device cheats for the game {Action Replay on GameCube, CodeBreaker on PS2}, or 2.) I found programmer cheats on…well, any website that had cheat codes. Heh, I noticed since this generation (the "WiiS360" generation), the show Cheat! has long since disappeared from G4. Just as well. I don't like G4 aside from Cops marathons. The only way I'll watch X-Play is when I want to get an idea of what assorted games will look like on my TV. I also noticed (having a standard-def TV), it's a lot more noticeable as far as PS3 and 360 graphics go. Though, I will admit Forza 3 looks beautiful. First time I've seen the franchise run over 30fps. Yeah, some can say what they want about there being no visual difference between 30fps and 60fps. I call "crap" anytime. I can always tell.

Wow, I was just going to post a comment, and now, I've lamented instead! Sorry.

I've been playing Kingdom Hearts: 358/2 Days. I'm at the end of it and after I finish it I'll be going back to Blaster Master: Overdrive and then on to Super Mario RPG for the 4th or 5th playthrough. Hopefully by the time that's all done, Metroid: Other M will be out.

How is Kingdom Hearts? Is it relatively action packed, for a RPG?

haha to be honest it hasn't been that hard, im right at the end now, stuck on gary oak after you beat the elite four, his pokemon seem to be able to 1 hit KO my lvl 84 charmander… : /

I might do a 3 heart challenge of majora's mask yet, I haven't beat that with just 3 hearts, strange since its my fav zelda game.

Chibi Robo’s rare here too, but I got it for $3 at a pawnshop. ;D

It’s very Japanese; personally I think there are a few too many unexciting tasks, and you have to recharge your batteries too much, and I would’ve preferred actual spoken dialog instead of fake "talking" (like in Banjo-kuzie).

But, other than that it’s fun.

I've been mostly playing WoW during my gaming time. My mage has become quite powerful and I'm usually one of the top two damagers in any random group.
