BMG Music Service. The club. They had what was known as the "BMG Store", a non-music related merchandise place where one could buy something now, and pay for it later. (As was always the case with CD's. You didn't pay for them until they arrived.)

Maybe I'll take a look through some old files and see if there's someone I can contact. Shit, it doesn't even work now, but even still, I got many hours of use out of it.

[SIDE-NOTE]

Bloody hell! I'm really having some acid reflux issues. I don't know how much more milk I can stand. I was smart today, and picked up a 2-week supply of Prilosec OTC. This will do what I need until Friday when I see my doctor (and ask him for Nexium, as that always worked the best). I also have to do some serious drinking from Friday morning up to appointment time. He wants some pee.

I only wish I could get the details of how an evaluation is conducted. How long do I have to be there? Will I be treated the same as someone who perhaps just climbed a bell tower on a university campus to blow their colleagues away? Will they talk down to me like I'm a small child? Can family visit me there, as it wouldn't be court-mandated institutionalization?

I can't claim to be an expert but I've been through some bouts of depression before where I've gone to see someone, albeit never commited, and it really depends on the doctor/psychiatrist it seems. Some will be very into providing pills right off the bat and treat you like a child and others will treat you like a human and work on trying to help you without pills. If you go in volunteeringly then they usually, at least in my experiences, treat you better. Perhaps because you could always leave. Family visits I would imagine would be allowed, when my mom spent time in a hospital visits were allowed. As for how long for an evaluation, my best guess would be 1-2 weeks.

Hope that was of some help.

In other news I've spent the past 6 weeks being rediculously busy between my olunteering at Rogers TV and working conventions. Currently my right arm is quite sore from 3 hours on a handheld cam Thursday and loading/unloading for cons everyday until today.  So sorry for being very quiet and not posting much. I'm hoping to get a new article up within the next 2 weeks as this week is pretty much a write off with so much on my plate.

As far as reflux
Have you elevated your bed?

I have trouble with heartburn and it reduced it by probably 30-40%

It’s all your meds hurting your guts.
Even allergy pills give me bad heartburn.

You just forgot they should’ve sent you a payment request.
And your PS2 doesn't work anymore, and the company is out of business anyway.

I’d say you’re karmicly balanced.

And they were bad SOBs to boot, Screw ‘em:

Security breach:

In 2001, a security breach in the Columbia House website exposed thousands of customer names, addresses and portions of credit card numbers, so leaving private information about customers vulnerable to exploitation.[1] The issue involved a particular section of the website, which could easily be accessed by deleting a portion of the website address in the address bar, discovered by customer Mark Alway. Upon the discovery of the breach, he emailed the Columbia House staff who were quick to respond to the problem. This event has naturally given rise to concerns over the website's capability of keeping private information safe and secure from hackers or devastating scams. Although no information was reportedly obtained from the temporary breach according to Columbia House, industry professionals were quick to point out that the simple error was the consequence of negligent handling of customer information.

Fraudulent Sale of Debt
In December 2008, BMG Music Service (now yourmusic.com) sold an unknown number of fraudulent debt claims to a collection agency, National Credit Solutions. Supposed delinquents were not made known of their debt and most had not made purchases with the company for at least five years. Victims of the sale of false debt claims were not made known of either their debt or the account opened with National Credit Solutions. Most victims learned of the collections agency account when they were denied for a loan, had credit cards canceled, or checked their credit reports. [12]

As of 2010, this business has an unsatisfactory rating with the BBB due to a failure to respond to complaints.[13][14] This company also has an unsatisfactory record due to a pattern of complaints. Specifically, complainants allege receiving merchandise and/or bills for merchandise from BMG/Columbia House for CDs and/or DVDs that they did not order. Complainants further allege that they did not join BMG/Columbia House and do not know how the company obtained their information and that the company's phone line & website do not provide live customer service representatives to help resolve these issues.

To JGH27:

Thanks. Any snippet of information I can get is helpful. Over the course of this week, I plan on making some phone calls to various [regular] hospitals in the area. The Fairview Hospital is a lot closer, but the VRMC seems to have a far better staff. More courteous, too. I had an MRI there in 2008, and they put a pair of headphones on me (as the machine is so loud), and let me pick what I wanted to listen to. They didn't have a lot of music I like (probably because most would consider my music to be "tensing"), so I opted for Dean Martin. Fairview; well, they stick you in the tube, and that's it. I've never had an MRI at Fairview Hospital, but most say it's just no good. I have thought about inpatient care at the Mayo Clinic, but my family would be awfully far away. Yet at the same time, I've read rave reviews about them. (Well, it is the Mayo Clinic, afterall.) Oh, and get this: the back-up drug the psychiatrist wanted to put me on can…I'm not joking…cause a man to have an orgasm every single time he yawns! Could you imagine how bad that would be in public??? Worse than that, what if I were at some sort of gathering, and there were young girls standing in front of me when that happened??? I would be branded a pedophile for life, and it would've been caused by something not of my own doing.

To Pster:

I got a box of Prilosec OTC. It says on the box it may take…2 or 4 days to really feel the effect, but I'm already seeing a little improvement. But, NO Chef Boyardee canned food for a long-ass time!

Interesting read! Here, I had just thought BMG died because of iTunes the way my local video store went bankrupt not too very long ago because of the convenience of Netflix. Cool, I just "stuck it" to big business! Laugh

Also, I dug out my old notebook where I documented the prices of things I bought. This bundle BMG offered was well over $300 (in Oct. 2005).

Here's what was included:

"New" Slim PS2 (Includes "new" slim PS2, one controller, A/V composite cable, AC adaptor+power cord to plug into wall.)

Crash Bandicoot 2 (PS1 game)

Ford Racing 2 (PS2 game)

Off-brand starter kit which includes a translucent purple controller, little remote control, and an infrared sensor for older, non-slim PS2's.

I don't remember what the PS2's actual retail price was in 2005, but even with these extras, it shouldn't have cost that much. "Crash 2" was an old PS1 game, and at retail (if you could find a store by then that even carried PS1 games), it'd be something like $9.99. A friend of mine bought Ford Racing 2, and it was $20 for both XBox and PS2 versions. "Starter kit" wasn't all that dazzling either. The controller was a bit clunky, and instead of the standard "+", it had the damn rounded "+", so trying to play a game that required the use of direction buttons could really be a pain in the ass. Also, the instruction sheet that came with this starter pack failed to mention that slim PS2's already had a built-in infrared sensor, yet it stated on the package, "fully compatible with all PS2 consoles including the new slim model." In the beginning, I couldn't figure out why buttons were "double-clicking". I'd try to pause a DVD, and it would unpause right away. It was when I took a closer look I discovered a sensor right on the PS2 itself. Remote was very stripped of function. Buttons included Circle, Cross, Square, Triangle, play/pause, menu, skip back, skip forward, search backward, and search forward. On top of that, the remote used one of those stupid coin-sized batteries that always seem to be discontinued when you go to a store like Radio Shack or Best Buy to buy a new battery. About the only good thing from this was the 6' extension cable.

Eventually, I ordered a "proper" Sony remote for PS2 from Amazon. Had everything the above-mentioned one did, plus L1, L2, R1, R2, and number keys. Hmm…I wonder if I can direct-link a pic here from Amazon. Well, I'll give it a try, or I'll upload the pic from PhotoBucket…or not. I have to laugh; chances are you've all seen these a million times.

So, in addition to your info (thanks, Pster) I can rest well knowing I'm not so bad. BTW, are you still a part of the G.A.P? I am, but it's been forever and a day since I was active.

There's so much I want to point out to Sony that maybe it's time I write something down in my blog about some glaring issues I have. For one thing, the Playstation Store has a nice variety of downloadable PS1 games. I have quite a few downloaded. But there's a couple games they've put up for sale/download that should've been either replaced or in addition to what's for sale. For one thing, they have Wipeout (the first one), but not the vastly-superior and well-received Wipeout XS(?), and they have fucking Jumpin' Flash, but no Doom! Yeah, there could be issues with third-party companies maybe not wanting to sell digital downloads on the PSN Store, but I don't know for sure. It'd be wonderful on the PSP. It was released long before the Dual Shock™ controller was released, so it would control perfectly on the PSP. Actually, the PS1 version was what some considered the "definitive" version to own. Only problem was there was no excuse to use password system in place of save-data.

Elevate your bed (the side where you put your head), about 5 inches, it really helps.

Another thing this is going to sound weird but take DGL (eg, deglycyrrhizinated) licorice it probably helped me another 5-10%.

But make sure it’s deglycyrrhizinated licorice or it isn’t safe to take it'll give excesivly high blood presure and weird heart beats.

I’m not sure if I’m still a G.A.P member, after years of not using it I tried logging in a while ago with my usual forum email and password and it didn’t recognize me.

I’m going to look for my G.A.P card and certificate and see if it says the log in info.

It was years ago I was like 16 and now I’m 21 so the email could’ve been different, man time goes fast!

I'm switching my major from Computer Engineering to Computer Science.

Technically, engineering looks better on paper, but for what I do and plan to continue doing, Computer Science makes more sense. I really don't give a shit about learning so much about circuits, which I would in engineering, and I'm sure I would have difficulty in those classes because of no genuine interest. My courseload for computer science, however, looks like a lot of fun. And hey, it still looks good on paper too.

I don't know if this should be in the feedback section, or if it fits on this board. Anyway, in the creation of wallpapers, could someone make me a House, M.D. wallpaper for my PSP? I was thinking of something with the boxed-around "MD" with some really crisp graphic behind it.

And, of course, aspect ratio 16:8…I think…

So in the past few weeks I've basically been very stressed and depressed. Bad combo. My ister has OD'd 3 times in 2 weeks and I live with an alcoholic. We're financially screwed and I'm now trying for government assistance to move out. So I've been absent for awhile despite really wanting to have a new article up. I've also been busy with TV and my own indy vid gig. I've got so much on my plate that I'm often forgetting to do stuff, like get the funds to cover a bounced cheque fee due tomorrow.

So yeah, hopefully I'll be all moved out in the next month and things will smooth out. Have a possible job at my old work but not sure if I want the insane work hours without getting paid ot.

I'll try and pluck away at a new article when I can. Again, sorry I haven't been active here.

Good luck.

Get away, even if it’s hard. Living with that kind of stuff will bring you down.

Bonemeal, your best bet is probably to find an image of House that you like and resize it down for your PSP.

JGH, I'm really sorry to hear of your rough times man! Don't worry about the article. It's not important compared to getting your life going. Sounds like you have a good plan to improve things.

Yeah, you may be right, as I know exactly what I want. Once I find an image, which would be better for resizing: Paint Shop Pro, or Photoshop?

@JGH

I'm sorry to hear about all the stress you've been going through. Hopefully when you get all moved into the new place things will get back to normal for you. There's no rush on the article, so just take your time. That's the perk of being a Freelancer. :)

@Bonemeal

Both should do the job fine. I'm more partial to Photoshop myself though. Just use whichever one you're more use to.

First off, thanks everyone. Things look to be good on Operation: GTFO and just a matter of finding an apartment now and once I get an address I get to apply for assistance.

Secondly, I just finished up an article and providing I remember how to use the editor in here should be ready to post within the hour.

Cheers!

Either will work but I like Paint Shop Pro better; it’s more intuitive IMO.

Not doing too well here. I got cut off from my Lortab. Although I'd always heard that opiates stay in your body for 72 hrs, I didn't have any in my system when I took a urine test last month. I took my last Lortab the Wednesday night before, and pissed in a cup on Friday afternoon. That's a bit less than 72 hrs. Needless to say, he cut me off. He gave me a little bit to ween off, but is no longer going to prescribe it, nor even be my doctor. It's probably for the better. Being more of an "oldschool" doctor, he was the type that didn't believe psychiatric issues were a real thing. I told him about having PTSD, and he made some reference to being a soldier in the Royal Army, and not being traumatized by what he saw. Also, it seemed all he ever really did was refill my Lortab. Last Fall when I got sick, fearing it could've been H1N1, I saw my old doctor. When I had a nasty infection after having a tooth taken out last Summer, he gave me the antibiotic. The psychiatrist took care of my psych meds. All this doctor did was write out prescriptions for Lortab. It might be in my best interest to find a better doctor.

At any rate, feeling quite a bit of pain right now. One thing is, my old doctor is more interested in seeing if my back pain really is "chronic", or if it is something that can be corrected.
